Peter Cairns

Mr. Cairns is a Partner and Chief Operating Officer of the Ares SSG Group. Additionally, Mr. Cairns is a Director of Ares SSG Hong Kong and Ares SSG Singapore. Mr. Cairns is responsible for all Ares SSG non-investing activities, including investment and fund operations, finance, legal, compliance, human resources, technology, administration and risk management. Prior to joining Ares in 2020, Mr. Cairns served as the Partner and Chief Operating Officer of SSG Group, where he oversaw its corporate and investment support functions since 2009. He was instrumental in managing operational risk as well as the development of sound operational controls and processes for the SSG Group. Previously, Mr. Cairns was the Asia Regional Director of Investment Administration at Wellington Management Company, where he was responsible for managing the investment support functions in their offices in Hong Kong, Sydney and Singapore. While at Wellington, Mr. Cairns held the role as Chairman of the Wellington Hong Kong Management Committee. In addition, he was the Asia Regional Chief Operating Officer at Baring Asset Management from 1996 to 2006, where he was responsible for managing all investment and corporate support functions. Mr. Cairns began his career as a Chief Operating Officer at Barings in the UK in 1987. Mr. Cairns holds a B.A. (Hons) from the University of York in Economics. Mr. Cairns is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.
