Mr. Chun is a Managing Director in the Ares SSG Group, where he is primarily responsible for identifying, assessing and executing investments in South Korea. Prior to joining Ares in 2020, Mr. Chun was a Managing Director of the SSG Group since 2017 and was instrumental in growing the firm's Asia business, including identifying opportunities, structuring investments and asset management. Previously, Mr. Chun was a Managing Director at Tor Investment and Mount Kellett Capital respectively, where, as the Head of Korea, he was directly responsible for investments in South Korea and involved in various investments and discussions related with the restructuring of South Korean corporates and chaebol groups. In addition, Mr. Chun served as the President in Beacon Investments, which was an investment advisor of the Goldman Sachs Asian Special Situations Group (ASSG) and as an Executive Director in Goldman Sachs ASSP respectively, primarily responsible for investments in Korea including major restructurings of South Korean corporates. Mr. Chun began his career as an Associate at Samjong Houlihan Lokey, where he advised South Korean corporates and financial institutions for their restructuring and asset resolutions. Mr. Chun holds a B.A. from Seoul National University in International Economics. Mr. Chun is a Certified Public Accountant from the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
